During a recent SAGE meeting, someone shared instructions on how to invert phone colors for viewing a Shroud replica (a positive Shroud image).
The purpose of this post is to strongly encourage your use of this method. It is a great way for your audience to participate in the experience of your presentation.
Yesterday (Tuesday, April 8, 2025) I volunteered my niece and her husband who are down here in Fort Myers, FL from New Hampshire visiting, to be my guinea pigs for testing this method. The experience was a huge hit!
And one interesting discovery we noted is that using the color inversion on the photo negatives provided an enhanced view of the negative. It was fun and surprising.
You might suggest to your audience that they imagine themselves in the shoes of Secondo Pia, in the darkroom on May 28, 1898 with his glass plates in the developing solution - and then have them view the Shroud replica through their phone already configured to the color inversion setting. It should result in a “wow” moment.
